As a general rule government grants don't have grant programs to pay off a person's credit card debt - although it is being talked about in Washington The general purpose of grants is to provide one with financial help as far as bills such as utilities, rent/mortgage payments etc......and the money that you would have otherwised paid for that would go towards paying off some of your credit debt. Now I do know of grant programs that award money where you can use the money any way that you like and that includes paying off bills if you want to but these programs require that you apply for them. I have seen some grant awards as high as $100,000 and you can bet that the people that know about these programs are applying for them.Grant Basics 101Grant Basics 101 Blog
